McLouth Happenings

Bob and Alfreda Ryan, Viola Edmonds, Allen and Nancy Smelser and their sons, Mark, Scott and Grant, attended the Stanwood Friends Homecoming on Oct. 4, celebrating 126 years since the church was started in 1883.

• Bridgett McGhee, Leavenworth Jefferson Electric Cooperative (LJEC) employee and McLouth resident, recently finished the four-year Dennis Merchant job training and safety program. This is a comprehensive power-line training program for utility personnel, providing practical training for apprentice linemen, as well as valuable skill advancement for experienced linemen and supervisory personnel. McGhee is the account manager for the work LJEC is completing at Fort Leavenworth.

• American Legion Auxiliary No. 393 will sponsor a soup luncheon and bake sale Saturday at the McLouth Community Center. Doors open at 10 a.m. Lunch will be served from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds from their fundraisers remain in McLouth, distributed to scholarships and Girls State delegates.

• McLouth Friendship Club’s covered dish luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Community Center. All adults 50 and older are welcome. Please bring a covered dish, and your table service. Please note: From 10 a.m. until noon, Jefferson County Health Department will be offering the health clinic and annual flu immunization at First Baptist Church of McLouth. Be sure to bring your Medicare B card — no fee. Without your Medicare B card, the cost is $25, payable by cash or check. Stop by the church for your flu shot before lunch at the McLouth Community Center. If you need a ride, the Jefferson County Services Organization vehicle (with limited seating) is available to residents within a one-mile radius of McLouth.
