Residents urged to flush discolored water
October 20, 2009
City officials are saying residents should flush their waterlines before having a drink.
Kent Heskett, the city’s utilities superintendent, said Tuesday afternoon that the water’s brownish color is the result of the Tonganoxie Fire Department testing out a hydrant and pumper truck.
He said the rapid movement of water had stirred up the lines and residents should run their faucets until the water turns clear.
Heskett said he was going to run another fire hydrant to flush the lines of the dirty water and most residents shouldn’t notice the change in water color.

Have you been paying attention to the nationwide egg recall?
“Even though I pay attention to news such as this, I am not an alarmist and realize that there are always going to be numerous recalls on various items. We all just need to be informed which is what is taking place with the news coverage.”
