Sharon Lynn came from Leavenworth on Aug. 31 to visit her sister, Evelyn Schwinn. Sharon’s husband, Melvin Lynn, underwent major surgery on Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Saint Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Mo.

We see our area farmers putting away their hay equipment and getting ready for the silage season. It has been a great season for them.

Christopher, Kimberly and Justin, Brian and Linda Schwinn had an over-the-hill 40th birthday party at their home on Aug. 29. Brian was 40 years old on Aug. 28 and Linda will be 40 on Sept. 19. The kids really pulled it off well. Brenda made the big cake. Attending were friends and relatives.

Myron and Jody Schwinn came from St. George to visit Evelyn Schwinn and the Schwinn brothers on Aug. 29. Then they attended the surprise party for Brian Schwinn.

Wayne and Anabel Knapp were surprised by a neighbor, Carl Junior Hund, on Aug. 31 for a visit. He is in Kansas City. His job has really slowed down. They were glad to see him.

Wayne and Anabel Knapp attended a dinner at Pullman Place Family Restaurant in Leavenworth on Sept. 1 with the Wayne High School class. Nineteen members enjoyed a very nice dinner and a short meeting afterward. They plan to get together every quarter at the restaurant.

Anabel Knapp visited her sister, Thelma Farris, at her Winchester home. Anabel had made her a birthday cake for her 91st birthday.

Wayne and Anabel Knapp attended fellowship dinner on Aug. 29. About 50 members of the church attended.

Austin Knapp, son of Kirk Knapp, is attending first grade at the Meriden grade school this year. He likes it real well.
