- 10 years ago: Sept. 1, 1999: This issue of The Tonganoxie Mirror will be the last one published by Don and Mary Waterman, who have owned the newspaper since 1991. On Sept. 2, they will transfer ownership to the WorldWest Limited Liability Company. It’s a decision they hope will preserve the weekly newspaper that has reflected the community’s growth for more than 117 years.
