Orie and Jan Nelson hosted daughter Camille and grandchildren Cody and Jennifer Sumerix from Ormond Beach, Fla., from July 15-20. It was a delightful five days for the Nelsons. They all celebrated Jennifer’s birthday with breakfast at Santa Fe Depot prior to their departure.

John and Cora Moses left July 14 to visit Cora’s aunt in Missouri and to attend an Underwood family reunion on July 18. There were 75 in attendance at the reunion. They returned home July 21.

Marilyn Kay Parsons went on a cruise and was taken to Providence Place, in Kansas City, Kan. She has a broken pelvic bone.

On July 24 at the Springdale Friends Church Hall, Amy Jo Schwinn was honored with a bridal shower. It began with a brunch and was hosted by her aunts Linda K. and Brenda Schwinn, as well as several cousins. Amy Jo received many nice and useful gifts.

Dave and Julie Zule entertained at their home on July 25 with a luncheon to honor their daughter Lauren on her 14th birthday. She has a brother, Derek, and a sister, Courtney. She will be a freshman at Pleasant Ridge High School soon.

Sharon Lynn, Peggy Gillaspie and Evelyn Schwinn visited with Welda Lynn at The Homestead, in Leavenworth, on July 27. The were guests there for lunch with her and had a nice, long visit.

Kyle Schwinn, son of Bill and Brenda Schwinn, celebrated his 16th birthday on July 26. He has a brother, Bret, and will be a junior at Pleasant Ridge High School this year.

Wanda Parker and daughter made a recent trip to El Dorado to see her new great-grandson, William Dragoo. She said he is “a keeper.”

On July 10, Jim and Grace Lawrence went to Washington, DC, to visit his daughter and son-in-law (who is in the Army) and grandson Toby. Jim brought his grandson back and he stayed until July 26. While in DC, he went to a Major League Baseball game at Nationals Park and toured the U.S. Capitol. He enjoyed the trip and thinks everyone should visit Washington, D.C., at least once.
