McLouth boys win Marmaton Valley Tournament
With a two-point road win Friday night, the McLouth High boys basketball team finished first at the Marmaton Valley Tournament in Moran.
The Bulldogs knocked off host MVHS, 41-39, to finish with a 2-1 record at the season-opening tourney.
A tight game throughout, MHS took a three-point lead into the second quarter before Marmaton Valley cut it to one heading into halftime. McLouth led by just two after three quarters and hung on for a slim victory.
Junior post Alen Kramer led the Bulldogs with 12 points. Sophomore Marc Walbridge, who hit a pair of three-pointers, added eight points, GavinSwearngin had six and Carter Gish chipped in four.
McLouth's 2-1 mark at the tournament was the same as Oswego, but MHS defeated OHS on Thursday, giving the Bulldogs the tie-breaker. Arma-Northeast, which defeated McLouth on Tuesday, finished third with a 1-2 record. Winless MVHS finished fourth.
The Bulldogs have their home opener at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, when they play host to Jefferson County North.
