McLouth girls 5th at JCN tourney

February 1, 2010

The McLouth High girls basketball team went 2-1 and finished fifth at the Jefferson County North tournament this past week.

After a one-point loss sent the Bulldogs to the consolation bracket, they finished off the tourney in style, defeating Maranatha Academy on Friday and Atchison on Saturday.

MHS (8-5) led throughout the fifth-place game and won 43-26 against Atchison.

The game against Maranatha was much tighter, but McLouth held on for a 37-35 win.

Seniors Missy Rome and Kylie Shufflebarger led the Bulldogs with 14 points apiece on Friday.

Shufflebarger had a game-high 10 rebounds and Rome led MHS with six assists.

Jefferson County North won the tournament with an overtime, championship-game victory against Perry-Lecompton, the only team to defeat McLouth at the event.

The Bulldogs play host to Pleasant Ridge on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
