Sheriff says burn permits must stop coming to his office
February 4, 2010
The Leavenworth County Commissioners hope to have a solution to the problems at the county’s dispatch office by next month.
On Thursday, the commissioners met with Sheriff Dave Zoellner and Wendy Dedeke, communication supervisor, to talk about the large number of burn permit calls coming to the county dispatchers.
Zoellner said the extra workload from burn permit calls have put an extraordinary strain on the dispatchers who manage the emergency calls for the entire county except the city of Leavenworth.
The sheriff wants all burn permit calls to stop going to the dispatchers, but he needs to know where to send them to.
Zoellner along with city of Leavenworth and County leaders will meet to discuss possible options.

Point of View
Have you been paying attention to the nationwide egg recall?
“Even though I pay attention to news such as this, I am not an alarmist and realize that there are always going to be numerous recalls on various items. We all just need to be informed which is what is taking place with the news coverage.”
