TES winter carnival coming to middle school Feb. 6

The Tonganoxie Elementary School Parent Teacher Association is sponsoring the upcoming Winter Carnival 2010.
It will take place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6 at Tonganoxie Middle School. An afternoon of food, family and fun currently is being planned. Families and students who attend Tonganoxie Elementary School are encouraged to show up and enjoy carnival games and inflatables, dine on hot dogs, popcorn and cotton candy, participate in a 50/50 raffle and experience the silent auction while bidding on the classroom “theme baskets.”

Do you plan on attending the St. Patrick’s festivities Saturday in Tonganoxie?
I like seeing Tongie being festive and all dressed up for the occasion. Along with my family, I will be attending the parade, watching the Wild Women of the Frontier, snarfing up some corn beef and cabbage and listening to the pipes. I’m only Irish on St. Paddy’s Day, and sometimes the weekends before and after. The rest of the time, I’m Scottish and both cultures regard pipes as heavenly. To me, it is also a celebration of spring’s imminent arrival, and the green color carries that message, too.
