Open house for recreational trails and pedestrian improvements master plan is tonight at City Hall.

By Staff | Jul 22, 2010

The Tonganoxie City Planning Commission will be playing host to an open house from 6:30-8 p.m. tonight to gather ideas and feedback to finalize a proposed master plan of future recreational trails and pedestrian improvements throughout Tonganoxie. The open house will be at Tonganoxie City Hall, 321 S. Delaware St.

During the past several months members of the city planning commission have prepared a draft pedestrian and bicycle master plan titled “Conveniently Connected.” This plan outlines a comprehensive network of sidewalks, shared-use trails, and on-street bicycle facilities proposed to be constructed throughout the city with future infrastructure improvements. The plan is to provide a network balanced between bicyclists of all skill levels, pedestrians and motorists. The plan’s goal is to provide facilities suitable to the diverse needs of multiple user groups and ages including children, adults, seniors and people with disabilities.

The open house is an opportunity for residents and interested individuals to review the draft Master Plan, and to provide ideas and feedback. A copy of the draft plan is currently available for review on the city web site at tonganoxie.org.

Comments or questions about the draft Master Plan can be provided to city staff in advance of the open house by contacting City Hall at (913) 845-2620 or by stopping by the City offices in person.
