THS athletes named all-league

Tonganoxie High spring athletes were honored recently by being named to the All-Kaw Valley League teams.

Gergick all-league in soccer

Four Tonganoxie High girls soccer players were a part of the 2010 All-Kaw Valley League team.

Leading the way for the Chieftains was Shyanne Gergick, a first-team selection as a utility player.

But THS also had three honorable mention selections. Grae Wilbanks was chosen as a defender, Alex Bartels made it as a goalkeeper and Carson Simmons was selected at midfielder.

The Chieftains went 4-9-3 this season.

THS baseball lands players on 1st, 2nd team All-KVL

Three Tonganoxie High baseball players made the cut for the All-Kaw Valley League team this season.

Senior center fielder Dylan Caywood was the Chieftains’ lone first-team selection.

Sophomore infielder Ben Williams made the second team after having a breakout year in 2010.

The third THS player chosen was junior infielder Ethan Lorance, who made honorable mention.

Tonganoxie finished the season with a 4-13 record.

Honorable mention for THS softball players

Two Tonganoxie High softball players received honorable mention on the All-Kaw Valley League team this season.

Senior infielder Lindsey Fatherley, who played both shortstop and third base for the Chieftains, was an honorable mention selection as an infielder.

Sophomore Haley Smith was named as an honorable mention outfielder.

THS advanced to a regional semifinal and finished with a 9-11 record this season.
