Leavenworth County Sheriff’s report
At 7:44 a.m. June 16, Leavenworth County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to an accident on 147th Street at Leavenworth Road. They found a 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Benjamin Martin, 63, Basehor, resting on its passenger side and partially submerged in water. Martin was extracted and told deputies he was a diabetic and been trapped in the vehicle since 1 a.m. June 13. The driver was taken to Kansas University Medical Center for observation. The vehicle was totaled in the incident.
James Bradshaw, 25, Lawrence, was arrested for arson, criminal damage to property and disorderly conduct June 16 after an incident in the 25500 block of Linwood Road. According to the Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office report, Bradshaw came to the home of his ex-wife to pick up his children for visitation and remove some personal property. Bradshaw removed a mattress and bed and set them on fire in the front yard. When Bradshaw returned with the children, he took additional items from the house and set another item on fire in the front yard. Bradshaw was also reported to have backed his vehicle onto the step, causing damage.
On June 23, a 20-year-old Leavenworth woman visited the emergency room at St. John's Hospital, stating she had been raped. According the Leavenworth County Sheriff's report, the woman said sometime in May she was at a party on Dakota Street west of Leavenworth, was drinking heavily and passed out. She woke up at 4 p.m . partially disrobed. She knew she had had sex but not with whom. She did not report the rape.
On June 16, a 13-year-old Leavenworth girl reported her 39-year-old mother struck her in the mouth with a closed fist at about 5 p.m. June 13.
Lewis Reed, 44, Kansas City, Mo., was arrested for possession of stolen property, DUI and driving with an open container when he crashed the 2010 Toyota Camry he was driving at 182nd Street and State Avenue. The car had been reported stolen in Kansas City, Mo. The suspect was wearing a seatbelt and uninjured.
A blue trash bin belonging to Honeycreek Disposal was reported stolen in the 13900 block of 166th Street June 16. The trash bin was taken between 9 p.m. June 14 and 9:30 a.m. June 15.
Leavenworth County Sheriff's deputies and Fairmount Township Fire Department responded to fire at 8:52 a.m. June 16 at 21882 155th St. The fire in the home of Amy Donnelly started in the kitchen. Fire damage was reported in the kitchen and smoke damage throughout the house.
On June 23, a father in the 14,300 block 158th Street in southeast Leavenworth County reported is juvenile son had left the home at about 6 a.m. The Leavenworth County Sheriff's Office is still investigating.
Quentin Brewer of Shawnee reported June 23 that an extension cord, motor oil and car air compressor was taken from a residence at 13275 142nd St. The victim said he was renovating the empty residence.
A dog with a suspicious swelling on its lower jaw was interned at Leavenworth Animal Control after it was reported wandering June 23 on a property on the 17200 block of Springdale Road.
