John and Mary Lou Tullis of McLouth celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary as guests of honor at a June 19 reception at Tullis Lake hosted by their children and their spouses, Linda and Dale Duncan, McLouth; Peggy and Gary Heim, Leavenworth; Sylvia and Dennie Steffen, Leavenworth; and Mike and Debbie Tullis, McLouth. The couple have 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Mary Lou Farrell and John Tullis were married June 21, 1950.
Area farmers are having a real challenge trying to replant a lot of their crops along with starting the hay season. It has been one wet season.
The Richard Parker family was at the Parker reunion in Oklahoma for the June 12 weekend.
LJ Chrisman and Gertrude and his brother Walter and wife Ellie of Parkville, Mo., hosted a Father’s Day dinner at the Chrisman home in Springdale on June 20. Those attending were Ellie’s sister Olga, her daughter Debbie, friend Chris, Matt and Mark Chrisman and Rachel, Donna, Dave Brown and son Clinton, Joyce and Kenny Webb and Steve Chrisman.
Carl and Barbara Slawter of Springdale rented a van with some of their family and drove to Minnesota the first part of June. They attended the Slawter’s granddaughter’s high school graduation and went sightseeing and fishing. They had a wonderful vacation.
Wayne and Anabel Knapp and Kirk Knapp traveled to Ottawa on June 19 to see their granddaughter Shannon, daughter of Terry and Debbie Tindle, play basketball. Shannon played a couple of games for Fredonia High, where she goes to school. It was a tournament and five different schools were playing at Ottawa. They played every hour. They were very fast games. It was a joy for them to see Shannon play.
On June 17, Sharon Lynn and Evelyn Schwinn went to Golden Living in Edwardsville for a great visit with their brother, Harold Steed. On their way back to Leavenworth, they enjoyed lunch and some shopping.
Sunday school children of Springdale Friends Church made special Father’s Day gifts on Sunday, June 20 for all the fathers who were present.
Justin Schwinn was visiting his grandmother, Evelyn Schwinn, on the afternoon of June 22.
Bev and David Sparks of Springdale had her parents Don and Shirley Haslam and children arrive for a visit on June 16. They left for their home in Utah on June 23.
