4-H stand gets hot dog cooker

The bi-monthly meeting of the Leavenworth County Extension Council was called to order by President Ira Parsons.

Roll call was to sign in. The flag salute and 4-H pledge were led by Nettie Larson. The treasurer and secretary gave reports. Several thank-you notes were read by Tonya Theis. The 4-H Days committee decided on a Feb. 20, 2010, date for the event at Lansing High School. The cash drawing will continue and the committee is looking in to getting doughnut and drinks donated.

Also during the meeting:

• Achievement night received good reviews and will continue the same for next year.

• The budget committee was approved to purchase a hot dog machine for the 4-H food stand.

• A $500 scholarship was approved for the 4-H Foundation. Fairbook committee recommended changes in department 56.

• The leadership project will now have an optional leadership plan. There will be no fair class for leadership.

• Changes were made in the photography project to keep in line with the state guidelines.

• Rabbit check times were changed to 5-9 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m.-noon Tuesday.

• Decided the 4-H camps committee will have a display at 4-H Days for promotion. Two dates were given for camp kickoff. Final date will be decided later.

• Decided that spring fare will be at the administration building and combined with Tech Day. The project enrollment requirement to exhibit at spring fare has been removed.

• The support and recognition committee presented the 2010 officer training to be the week of Nov. 8, 2010, and the spring VIP training on April 27, 2010.
