Wrestlers qualify for state tournament

Six members of the Tonganoxie Wrestling Club are headed to the state tournament after placing this past weekend at a Topeka sub-district tournament.

Korbin Reidel finished first in his division, while Asher Huseman and Zach Kaighin placed second. Meanwhile, Justin Soetaert, Dalton Tavis and Seth Wolf each placed fourth.

The six Tonganoxie placers will be right back in Topeka this weekend to compete at the state tournament on Saturday and Sunday at the Kansas Expocentre.

The season ended at sub-district this past weekend for eight other Tonganoxie competitors.

Tonganoxie state qualifiers

First — Korbin Reidel, 8 and under, 67 pounds.

Second — Asher Huseman, 12 and under, 120 pounds; and Zach Kaighin, high school, 185 pounds.

Fourth — Justin Soetaert, high school, 130 pounds; Dalton Tavis, 14 and under, 95 pounds; and Seth Wolf, 12 and under, 120 pounds.
