Leavenworth Jefferson Electric Cooperative (LJEC) has adopted a section of highway in conjunction with the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Adopt-A-Highway program, agreeing to pick up trash on that section of highway three times per year.
Eighteen employees and four board members cleaned between the city limits of McLouth, west to Wellman Road. Forty-five large bags of trash and four large bags of aluminum cans were collected. LJEC donated the cans to the Jefferson County Humane Society for recycling.
