Tonganoxie volleyball to host 4A sub-state tournament
The Tonganoxie High volleyball team won’t have to leave town to play its sub-state tournament on Saturday, Oct. 23.
The Chieftains found out this past week they will be playing host to one of eight Class 4A sub-state tournaments.
Tonganoxie’s competition will be Atchison, Basehor-Linwood, Bishop Ward, Bonner Springs (which just dropped down to 4A from 5A), Piper, St. James Academy and Sumner Academy.
St. James (21-0 entering Tuesday) is ranked No. 1 in 4A by the Kansas Volleyball Association and, according to PrepVolleyball.com, is the No. 1 team in the nation as of Sept. 30.
Sub-state tournaments will be seeded by the Kansas State High School Activities Association on Wednesday, Oct. 20.
The Class 4A state tournament is Oct. 29-30 at the Bicentennial Center in Salina.
