Tonganoxie, McLouth bands to perform at KU Band Day

The Tonganoxie and McLouth high school marching bands will join more than 30 other bands for the 63rd annual Kansas University Band Day, which is Saturday in Lawrence.

Starting at 1 p.m., bands will participate in a parade through downtown Lawrence. The bands also will join KU’s marching band, the Marching Jayhawks, for the halftime show of the Kansas-New Mexico State football game. The contest will start at 6 p.m. at KU’s Memorial Stadium.

High school bands will play “I’m a Jayhawk,” “Stand Up and Cheer,” “Kansas Song,” “Fighting Jayhawk” and “Home on the Range” alongside the Marching Jayhawks.

The THS band is directed by Charles Van Middlesworth; the MHS band is directed by Jerome Johnson.
