Tonganoxie girls 2nd, boys 3rd at Bobcat Relays

— Both of Tonganoxie High’s track teams finished in the top three Friday at the Bobcat Relays at Basehor-Linwood.

The Chieftains’ girls finished second in the team standings, 30 points behind champion Piper.

The THS boys, meanwhile, took third, trailing first-place Piper by 18 points and coming up 15 points behind runner-up BLHS.

Tonganoxie’s girls won five events. Hannah Kemp finished first in the 100-meter hurdles, Jenny Whitledge won both the high jump and the long jump and Domino Grizzle had the longest throws in javelin and shot put.

The THS boys finished first in three events. Jake Willis won the pole vault and set a new meet record with a mark of 14 feet and Dylan Scates took first place in both the long jump and triple jump.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, the Chieftains will play host to the Tonganoxie Invitational.
