Middle school to have Friday fundraiser for Joplin school

Tonganoxie Middle School is having a hat day Friday in association with other Kaw Valley League middle schools as a fundraiser for East Middle School in Joplin, Mo. For $2 paid at the Tonganoxie Middle School office, students may purchase the right to wear a hat throughout the day. For $5, teachers and staff can purchase a casual dress, jean and hat day.
All proceeds will be donated to East Middle School to replace its fine arts library and athletic equipment lost in the May 22 tornado that devastated Joplin.

What’s the best way to spend a snow day?
Shovel your driveway and paths, check neighbors’ driveways and then grab all your closest little ones and find the biggest sledding hill. Snowmen also are a must. Snow days are a great time to catch up on missed shows and much-needed rest. I love snowdays, they haven’t changed one bit even as an adult, although I am sure not all working adults can say that, but I am happy I can. I was excited to see the snowmen and other snow sculptures throughout the Lawrence and Kansas City metro areas.
