Legends Outlets to hold giveaways, screenings for American Heart Month

By Staff Report - | Feb 3, 2011

Throughout February, Legends Outlets Kansas City will partner with the American Heart Association for several “red” events in recognition of national American Heart Month.

Many activities will take place Friday, which is National Wear Red Day.

Providence Medical Center and Saint John Hospital will be on-site 6-8 p.m. next to Harry & David’s, across from Forever 21, providing free health screenings, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen, and stress dot tests as well as Body Mass Index measurements. All those participating in the health screenings will receive a takeaway gift bag and dark hot chocolate, compliments of Mema’s Old Fashioned Bakery.

Also from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, shoppers are encouraged to wear red for the chance to win a Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Waterpark day ticket and Legends Gift Card. KUDL 98.1 deejay Tanna Guthrie will join the celebration by broadcasting live at the event. Shoppers wearing red can collect their reward at the Legends Outlets / KUDL tent located in front of The Legends 14 Theatre in the center courtyard.

Additionally during the rest of the month, Legends Outlets will dress itself in red as its smokestack towering above the center will be lit up in red lights all month, while oversized “Go Red” logos adorn the center.

The shopping center also will situate a red scarf every day somewhere within the center on a Legends star in Kansas history. Shoppers may find Amelia Earhart, Wyatt Earp or any of the other Kansans featured around the center wrapped in a cozy red scarf. Clues will be given on the Legends Outlets Facebook page each day. The first Legends Outlets’ guest to snap a photo of the red scarf on a Kansas legend or monument and post it on the Legends Outlets Facebook page will win two-day tickets to Schlitterbahn Vacation Village Waterpark.
