Tonganoxie, McLouth teams to travel for postseason
When the regular season wraps up for winter sports in late February, teams from Tonganoxie High and McLouth High will be hitting the road for postseason tournaments.
The THS boys and girls basketball squads have been placed in the Class 4A sub-state tournament at Piper, in Kansas City, Kan.
Other schools assigned to the site are: Atchison, Basehor-Linwood, Bishop Ward, Bonner Springs, Jeff West, Piper and Sumner Academy.
First-round games begin Monday, Feb. 28 (with the top four seeds playing home games) and finals are scheduled for Saturday, March 5 at Piper.
The Tonganoxie wrestling team will head to Holton Feb. 18 and 19 for a 4A regional tournament.
The Chieftains will be competing with teams from: Atchison, Baldwin, Basehor-Linwood, Bishop Ward, Bonner Springs, De Soto, Eudora, Holton, Jeff West, Perry-Lecompton, Piper, Royal Valley, St. James Academy and Sumner Academy.
McLouth’s basketball teams, meanwhile, will play in a 3A sub-state tournament at Marysville.
Other teams competing there will be: Atchison County, Horton, Jefferson County North, Marysville, Maur Hill-Mount Academy, Pleasant Ridge and Sabetha.
As in 4A, the first round begins with home games on Feb. 28 and finals are slated for March 5.
