Leavenworth man killed in fatality accident south of Lansing
An 85-year-old Leavenworth man was killed in a fatality accident Wednesday afternoon in Leavenworth County.
Duane F. Lindle died in the accident, which occurred about 1:20 p.m. Wednesday on Kansas Highway 7 at Fairmount Road, roughly 3 miles south of Lansing.
According to Kansas Highway Patrol reports, Lindle was at a stop light in the right southbound lane on the four-lane divided highway in a 2008 Ford passenger car.
Jo Anne Parker, 55, Lansing, driving a 1998 Toyota passenger car in the left southbound lane, failed to yield and struck Lindle’s vehicle from the rear, reports said.
Parker sustained injury in the accident and was taken to Kansas University Hospital. Both were wearing seat belts, reports said.
The accident caused closure of the southbound lanes until about 5:30 p.m., a Kansas Department of Transportation official said.
