By Mirror Staff Reports - | Jul 7, 2011

With yet another sweep Saturday at Leavenworth County Fairgrounds, Tonganoxie’s Post 41 baseball team continued its undefeated run through the season.

Tonganoxie knocked off the Lansing Reds with victories of 11-1 and 7-1.

Starting pitcher AJ Gilbert threw all six innings in the 10-run victory, striking out five Reds in the process.

Offensively, Post 41 (16-0) was led by Ben Williams, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Amos White also drove in two runs and was 1-for-3. Both Cody Saladin and Tyler Freeman drove in a run apiece.

In game two, starter Austin Harkrader threw six innings and struck out 10 batters before Saladin entered in the seventh to finish off Tonganoxie’s 16th straight win.

Williams again had a big game at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Corey Klinkenberg’s slugging was a big part of the victory, too. He had a pair of doubles and two RBI in a 3-for-4 outing. Freeman was 1-for-2 with an RBI.

Post 41 has been dominant this season, outscoring its opponents 195-31.

Tonganoxie has two regular-season dates remaining on the schedule. At 10 a.m. Saturday, Post 41 will play at McLouth. At 6 p.m. Tuesday, the team will play host to the Easton Outlaws, who gave Tonganoxie its closest game of the season on June 24, when Post 41 won 3-2 before finishing a home sweep with a 17-1 drubbing.
