Post 41 picks up 18th win in a row
Tonganoxie’s Post 41 baseball team moved one step closer to an undefeated regular season on Saturday with a two-game sweep at McLouth.
The Post 41 winning streak hit 18 with victories of 7-0 and 8-1 in the road doubleheader.
Tyler Freeman pitched all seven innings for Tonganoxie in the first game and struck out 11 batters in the shutout.
Austin Harkrader belted a two-run homer in the third inning for Post 41. Freeman went 2-for-3 at the plate and drove in a run. Cody Saladin went 2-for-2 and drove in Dylan Fosdick and Freeman with a sixth-inning double.
Tonganoxie (18-0) got another complete game on the mound in the second game from Fosdick.
Saladin delivered a two-run home run in the fifth. Freeman was 1-for-3 and drove in a run, Ben Edmonds doubled and walked twice and Harkrader finished 1-for-3 with a double.
Post 41 has been dominant this season, outscoring its opponents 210-32.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Tonganoxie has its final home date of the regular season, a home doubleheader at Leavenworth County Fairgrounds against the Easton Outlaws.
The postseason will begin on Monday at Kansas City, Kan., for Post 41 with the first round of a zone tournament.
