Livestrong Sporting Park unveils technological enhancements

When Sporting Kansas City plays host to the Chicago Fire at 9 p.m. Thursday for the inaugural game at Livestrong Sporting Park, the stadium will feature more than just a polished appearance.

It also will showcase state-of-the-art technological systems designed to enhance the fan experience.

The 18,467-seat, $200 million venue will be one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in the world thanks in part to its partnership with Cisco Connected Sports Solutions.

The stadium will feature Cisco’s new high-density Wi-Fi technologies that will allow fan interaction on mobile devices and smartphones during the game, as well as to allow fans in suites to select from multiple video options when viewing the game.

The stadium also will include more than 300 high-definition televisions so fans can view the game from almost any location in the stadium.

“We built Livestrong Sporting Park with a primary emphasis on technology and fan-experience,” said Robb Heineman, CEO of Sporting Club, in a statement. “Partnering with an industry leader like Cisco Systems is a perfect fit to what we are trying to deliver to everyone who attends a game or event at our new stadium. This is just the beginning of what you will see technology-wise through Sporting Club and with the help of Cisco, we are very enthusiastic about the present and future features we will showcase.”
