On Sunday afternoon June 5, David and Jane Turner joined a group, The Prime Timers, from Cornerstone Family Worship of Tonganoxie and they went to an Arts in Prison presentation given by the East Hills Singers called Let Freedom Sing. The singers were men from the East unit of Lansing Correctional Facility, joined by volunteers from greater Kansas City. The presentation was at Blessed Sacrament Church, Kansas City, Kan.
Jarbalo United Methodist Women met Wednesday, June 8, at the church. Marilyn Oxley opened the meeting and Rosie Oelschlaeger gave a prayer. Six members answered roll call and reported 42 care calls. A thank-you note was read from Bid Sheppard’s family. The group is planning to go in July to Hickory Point Nursing Home in Oskaloosa.
Plans were made for the tea the group is having June 24. Tables and chairs will be set up at 4 p.m. June 23.
Christine Black had the program. She also served refreshments to members Marilyn Oxley, Faye Cleavinger, Frances Jeannin, Rosie Oelschlaeger and Thamar Barnett.
David and Jane Turner were guests of Tim and Kelly Kouns on Saturday in Leavenworth.
