Post 41 moves to 10-0

By Mirror Staff Reports - | Jun 23, 2011

Tonganoxie’s Post 41 American Legion baseball team remained unbeaten Tuesday with a sweep of Geiger at Leavenworth County Fairgrounds.

Post 41 cruised to an easy 14-0, four-inning victory in the first game and won, 10-5, in game two to improve to 10-0 this season.

Starting pitcher Dylan Puhr only had to throw four innings thanks to Tonganoxie’s huge lead but still managed to strike out nine Geiger batters.

Puhr also enjoyed a productive night in the batter’s box, slugging his way to a 2-for-3 performance in game one with a double, a triple and three RBI.

Both Luke Faherty and Amos White went 1-for-2 with two RBI in the 14-run victory and Tucker Hollingsworth hit a double.

AJ Gilbert started on the mound in the second Post 41 win Tuesday night and worked six innings with six strikeouts before Tyler Freeman closed the game by pitching the seventh.

Puhr continued his hot night at the plate, again going 2-for-3, and belted a home run in the five-run victory. Hollingsworth went 2-for-4, as did Austin Harkrader.

Tonganoxie has another home doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. Friday against the Easton Outlaws.
