Video: 200-pound metal Mayflower at Basehor Historical Museum

By Staff | Mar 3, 2011

Leavenworth County resident Harold Leible spent a year constructing his 200-pound, six-foot-tall model of the Mayflower made out of junk copper and bronze. Now it’s on display through May at the Basehor Historical Museum, 2812 155th St.

In these videos, Leible demonstrates all of the ship’s moving parts and gives a look into what went into making it.

The sculpture is available for viewing during the museum’s regular hours: 9 a.m.-noon on Tuesdays, 1-4 p.m. on Thursdays and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays.
