McLouth Happenings

Easter Dinner guests of Kathleen McConnell were: Steve and Nancy Moring, and David Wong, Oskaloosa; Sarah Thomas, Lawrence; Barbara Peterson, Bob Kimmel, Jean Umholtz, and Louise Gilbert, McLouth.

• American Legion Riders will sponsor a fundraising “Ride for Trevor Roberts” starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. Registration and breakfast will be 9-11:30 a.m. at the McLouth school cafeteria. Be cautious driving around the McLouth area. Many motorcycles will be participating.

• The Banquet for all McLouth alumni will be 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the McLouth school cafeteria and Purple (north) Gym. All graduating seniors, alumni and faculty (past and present) are welcome. Cost is $5 per person; $8 per couple. A main entree will be provided. Attendees are asked to bring a side dish. Classes of 1961, 1971, 1986, 2001 and 2011 will be recognized. There will also be give-away and raffle items donated by local businesses. Jefferson County Bike Rodeo and Family Fun Night, sponsored by Jefferson County Early Childhood Council, will be 5:30-7:30 p.m., Tuesday at Oskaloosa Middle School. Interactive bicycle safety for children ages 2 thru 8; and activities indoors for infants and toddlers. Bring your bikes and helmets. Healthy kid friendly meals will be provided at 5:30. Bike Rodeo starts promptly at 6:00. Bike helmets will be given away.

A baccalaureate service for McLouth High School graduates will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at First Baptist Church. The community is welcome to celebrate with our graduates, as we thank God for what He has accomplished in the past, and pray for His continued blessings upon their lives.

• Enrollment is open for McLouth USD No. 342 Parents as Teachers. Do you have a little one 0-3 years of age? Are you wondering if your child is developing on target or have any questions about your child’s development? Parents As Teachers is a fun, free, early learning program for parents of children prenatal through 3 years, sponsored by the McLouth school district and the Kansas State Department of Education. Parents As Teachers provides:

Home visits to help you learn about your child development, talk about concerns, ask questions and share the joys and frustrations of parenting;

Play groups, where children can learn to play with others and try new activities, and parents can meet and share experiences; and developmental screenings to reassure you of your child’s progress and to help identify potential problems.
