Former Eisenhower Library and Museum director to present on Ike at historic site

The former director of the Eisenhower Presidential Library and Museum will give a presentation about President Dwight D. Eisenhower at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, at the Tonganoxie Community Historic Site, 201 W. Washington St.

Daniel D. Holt, who was director at the presidential library and museum from 1990-2008, will focus his presentation on Eisenhower from a young man to an international statesman. He’ll delve into Eisenhower’s time in Kansas, at West Point and in the Philippines and Europe, and why he was effective throughout his life.

Holt is a speaker, writer and author who currently is managing editor and project director of the “George C. Marshall Papers” editing project. He also is co-editor of “Eisenhower: The Pre-War Diaries and Selected Papers, 1905-1941.”

The presentation is part of the Tonganoxie Community Historical Society’s monthly meeting. Admission is free. For more information, call (913) 845-2582.
