Benefit for family of MHS student killed in Costa Rica is Oct. 9

October 5, 2011

The inaugural Remembering Justin Golf Tournament and Silent Auction will take place starting with registration at 11 a.m. Sunday at Village Greens Golf Course, Kansas Highway 92 near Ozawkie.

Justin Johnston, who was a student at McLouth High School, died from a gunshot wound while on a school trip to Costa Rica earlier this year.

Proceeds from the golf tournament will go toward expenses the family has incurred due to the investigation of Justin’s death and upcoming murder trial of the accused in Costa Rica.

Food also will be for sale at the golf tournament, including hot dogs throughout the day and barbecue starting at 4:30 p.m.

Other benefit events planned are a concert Nov. 6 at St. Francis De Sales in Lansing and a Remembering Justin 5K run and poker run June 2, 2012.
