The contract for Rick Huhn, chief of Leavenworth County Fire District No. 1, is up at the end of the year. It is time for his contract to be renewed, and your support is needed. Chief Huhn joined the fire department in July 1976. He was promoted through the ranks and took over as fire chief in September 1996. At the beginning of Chief Huhn’s tenure the department was a small volunteer township fire department, and under his guidance it has grown into a combination paid/volunteer fire department.
