Stranger Township Fire Department will have its open house 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the fire station, 19503 State Ave. In addition to Stranger Township firefighters, visitors can meet Kansas Highway Patrol troopers and Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Services medics.

Sherman Township Fire Department will have its open house 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 at the department’s fire station, 170th Street and Kreider Road northeast of Linwood.

The open house will feature free food, fire and safety demonstrations, a fire safety house for children and an appearance by a rescue helicopter at 2 p.m.
