The Leavenworth County Commission meets regularly at 9 a.m. each Monday and Thursday at the Leavenworth County Courthouse, 300 Walnut St. in Leavenworth.

Agenda for the week of Oct. 24:

Monday, Oct. 24

9 a.m.: Public comment/administrative business

  • Approval of minutes of Oct. 20 meeting
  • Approval of October bills
  • Jamie Miller, health department — exception to hiring freeze

10 a.m.: Public hearing — Sewer District No. 3 annual assessment hearing

Commissioners will review bills for October for the remainder of the day.

Tuesday, Oct. 25

Noon: Mid-America Regional Council board meeting

Wednesday, Oct. 26

11:30 a.m.: Leavenworth County Port Authority board meeting

Thursday, Oct. 27

9 a.m.: Public comment/administrative business

  • Approval of minutes of Oct. 24 meeting
  • Approval of agenda for week of Oct. 31
  • Janet Klasinski, county clerk — County commission redistricting
  • John Forslund, public works — window washing/painting bids

9:30 a.m.: Planning and zoning — Jeff Joseph, director

  • Case No. 35-11 — Consideration of an application for a special use permit for a residential care center for children, youths or adults (Sonshine Daycare) on a tract of land at 16530 Convey Lane. Submitted by Lisa and David Sirridge.
  • Case No. 32-11 — Consideration of an application for a special use permit for coal, fuel or ice storage, saw mills, treatment of building materials, storage of general contracting materials and equipment; for Myracle Tree Service, lot 8, Hidden Meadows Subdivision Phase 1. Submitted by Barbara and Ellis Myracle.

6 p.m.: Commissioners will attend the Legal Institute sponsored by the Leavenworth Bar Association at Falcon Lakes Golf Course

Friday, Oct. 28

2 p.m.: Commissioners will attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new emergency medical services headquarters.
