Jarbalo Jottings

The community was saddened by the death of Virginia Murphy on Friday night. The funeral is 10:30 a.m. today at the High Prairie Church. Burial will be at Fall Creek Cemetery.

My apologies to my great-granddaughter, Madison Smith, for omitting her name from the list of people celebrating my birthday.

David and Jane Turner had a cookout for the members of the Santa Fe Trail Leather Artists Guild Saturday afternoon.

Those who came to the church community barbecue Saturday enjoyed reminiscing about Jarbalo.

There will be a rummage and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23 and from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24 at Jarbalo United Methodist Church. If anyone has anything to donate, call me at (913) 727-1727.

Kathy Stimac and Terry Drennon of Emporia took Thamar Barnett to Hamilton, Mo., Saturday for the 70th wedding anniversary of Thamar’s sister and her husband, Evelyn and Ross Hicklin. Ross ran a Gamble’s Store in Hamilton for many years.

Orville and Rosie Oelschlaeger were supper guests of John and Janice Oelschlaeger, Erin and Amy of Lawrence on Thursday.

Sunday guests of Orville and Rosie Oelschlaeger for a cookout were Joanie and BJ Oelschlaeger, Mark Oelschlaeger, Sarah and Grace, John and Janice Oelschlaeger, Erin and Amy, all of Lawrence.
