Oral histories of World War II from 1940s era Kansans topic of historical society presentation Tuesday

By Staff | Sep 26, 2011

World War II altered many lives, sending a generation of men and women across the state and overseas.

The stories of pilots, wedlers, chaplains, nurses and others provide a window into Kansans’ journeys to factories, hospitals, military service and pacifist communities.

Rachel Goossen, professor of history at Washburn University, will give a presentation at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Tonganoxie Community Historic Site, 201 W. Washington St. Goossen will focus on oral histories of 1940s-era Kansans, as well as people who collected the stories.

The presentation is part of the monthly Tonganoxie Community Historical Society meeting and is provided courtesy of the Kansas Humanities Council.
