The Tonganoxie High volleyball team picked up its second win in as many days with a sweep of Turner Tuesday in the THS gymnasium.

Ever since Tonganoxie High’s first day of soccer practice, coach Brian Kroll has emphasized the importance of playing a sound game. The Chieftains weren’t always in sync in Tuesday’s game at Bonner Springs, but they were at their best when it mattered most.

The McLouth High football team will begin its quest for a playoff bid Friday when it opens the 2012 season at home against Class 3A and Big Seven Conference school Nemaha Valley. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at the Stan Braksick Sports Complex.

More than two weeks ago, Tonganoxie High began its football season at the first possible minute. With the Chieftains’ first game now just two days away, all their hard work and preparation are about to be put to the test.
