Several people from this area attended the funeral of Maxine Sparks on Monday, Nov. 23, at McLouth United Methodist Church. Maxine grew up in this area and graduated from Jarbalo High School.

Word has been received of the death of George Nussbaum on Nov. 27 in Hollister, Mo. He lived in this area for a number of years. Inurnment will be at a VA cemetery near Springfield, Mo. George was also a graduate of Jarbalo High School.

Jesse Barnett will present a holiday music benefit performance for Jarbalo United Methodist Church at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22.

Thamar Barnett attended a birthday anniversary celebration for her great-granddaughter Taylor Barnett, Saturday afternoon at the home of Taylor’s father, Loren Barnett.

Some Jaunty Jarbalonians Red Hat members attended a Christmas concert Sunday afternoon at the First Presbyterian Church in Leavenworth. Those there were Linda Barry, Jane Turner, Thamar Barnett, Lynn Paul and her granddaughter, Lauren Gaskey. Linda is a member of the choir at the church.

Last Christmas, a statue of baby Jesus was stolen from the two nativity scenes at Jarbalo United Methodist Church. This year, just a few days after the scene was set up, a new statue that replaced the old one was also stolen. Now, what kind of low-life would be doing this?
