“Thanks for all the birthday cards,” Ryan said.

• Ready to get in shape? Perhaps fulfill your New Year’s resolution: An exercise group meets at 9:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday in the McLouth Community Center behind the library. There is no fee. All levels of physical fitness are welcome to participate in this one-hour session of walking and moderate exercise (It’s perfectly acceptable to take a “rest” whenever necessary). This is good therapy for cabin fever.

• American Legion Riders Post 41 will hold its monthly meeting at 3 p.m. Sunday at Elle's Diner on U.S. Highway 24-40 in Tonganoxie.

• McLouth Friendship Club’s covered dish luncheon will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Community Center. All adults 50 and older are welcome. Please bring food to share, and your table service.
