The Light Bulb Place in downtown Tonganoxie again is open for business.

The Kansas Department of Revenue said Tuesday that it had forced closure of the business at 616 E. Fourth St. for failure to pay nearly $6,000 in state sales taxes.

Kansas Department of Revenue agents and Leavenworth County Sheriff’s officers seized business assets of the store. The business, owned by Bryan and Tamara Kemp, owed $5,954.17 in state sales taxes.

But Tuesday morning, Fred Warfield with KDOR said the owners had since paid the taxes and keys were returned to them.

Freda Warfield with KDOR said the unpaid taxes dated back to filing periods from 2008-09 and 2010 totaling $5,592.58. There also were unpaid sales taxes in 2011 totaling $361.59, Warfield said.
