All throughout last season, the Oskaloosa wrestling team lost duals before they even started. With just six varsity wrestlers on the 2011-12 roster, the Bears were forced to forfeit more matches than they could wrestle, making team victories impossible form the beginning.

Thanks to a successful football season, there was very little time for McLouth High athletes to transition from the gridiron to the basketball court. There were some positives and negatives to the quick turnover, but nonetheless, the Bulldogs are finally at full strength on the hardwood.

The Tonganoxie High gymnasium will have a busy schedule at the end of the winter athletic season, as the school has been selected as a host for 2012-13 Class 4A sub-state basketball and regional wrestling tournaments.

Phil Williams, a coaching mainstay at Tonganoxie High for nearly four decades, has announced his retirement as the Chieftains’ cross country coach. Williams will be honored in a halftime ceremony at the THS basketball game against Basehor-Linwood on Dec. 14. Anyone who ran or coached with Williams is encouraged to attend.
