- A move to the status of city of second class could mean a change in the top administrator’s title and structure of the governing body in Tonganoxie. But Tonganoxie City Council members plan to take their time in coming to a decision.
- Soup supper is Friday

- The United Methodist Women will have a community soup supper from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the Tonganoxie United Methodist Church, 328 E. Fourth St., in Tonganoxie. Soups and desserts will be served at the free-will offering event. Proceeds from the meal will go toward missions.

- The Tonganoxie Community Historical Society will have its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, at its historic site, 201 W. Washington St. The public is invited to the event, which has a program each month featuring a guest speaker.

- The Albert and Ella Edmonds reunion was hosted by the David Edmonds family Sept. 30 at McLouth Community Center with 33 in attendance. They came from California, Illinois, Colorado, Texas, Missouri, and Kansas. Next year’s hosts will be the Tabor Edmonds family.

- The October meeting was called to order by outgoing president, Aaron McIntyre. The club then was led in the American flag salute. Roll call was answered by answering the question: What is your favorite holiday? Acting secretary Carrie Husband read last month’s minutes; the minutes were approved as read. No treasurer’s report was given as the treasurer was absent.

- Isn’t it about time to just treat yourself, go shopping or, better yet, just browsing? Go down the gadget rows in your favorite fabric shop, maybe. They have a self-threading needle now. I haven’t actually seen one, but I did see a picture of one and it looks rather cumbersome. This was in one of those little catalogs we get in the mail.

- New Tonganoxie postmaster named: Ron Hubbard says his work as postmaster is so much fun that he’s surprised he gets paid for it. “I love it, it’s great working with the people and doing all that,” Hubbard said. - The McLouth High cross country team ran last Thursday at the Delaware Valley League meet in Horton. The Bulldog boys took seventh with a team score of 188, while the girls didn’t qualify in the team standings.
