McLouth Happenings

By Beverly Muzzy - | Sep 11, 2012

The annual benefit tractor ride for the Jefferson County Historical Society and the Jefferson County 4-H scholarship fund will be Friday, Sept. 14. Antique and classic tractors of all makes and models will line up and parade approximately 30 miles through northeast Kansas.

Departing at 9 a.m. from the McLouth Threshing Bee grounds, the group of tractor drivers will tour toward the city of Winchester. After a short break in Winchester, they will proceed west and south via Hickory Point Road to Highway 59, passing by the Battle of Hickory Point. The tractors will then progress further south to Oskaloosa where an “old time threshers meal” at historic Old Jefferson Town will be served by members of the Jefferson County Historical Society and the Jefferson County Petticoat Council in their vintage apparel. After lunch, the drivers will return to McLouth and tour Union Street ending their journey at the Threshing Bee grounds.

Once the ride is complete, the tractor drivers are invited to stay and display their tractors at the Threshing Bee. For more information or to participate in the ride, please contact Charles Luse at 913-774-2759 or Mary Luse at mjluse@gmail.com.
