September 25, 2012

Area residents who lived in the area in the 1800s and 1900s were on stage Saturday at Hubbel Hill Cemetery.

Tonganoxie Community Historical Society and First City’s Performers and Story Tellers had their second annual cemetery stroll.

Local residents portrayed past residents during two programs Saturday afternoon.

Rachel Kelly and Vivian Ross served as narrators, while Keyta Kelly read the history of Hubbel Hill Cemetery and a poem by Foy Brown.

Characters were Chase Elkins as Ezra Hubbel (1866-1879), Sue Ludwikoski as Amanda Hopkins Penfold (1847-1902), John Evans II as Lemuel Evans (1842-1921), Kathy Peak as Magdalena Bury (1822-1870), Jerri Bayse as Elizabeth Mann (1847-1909), Kevin Ludwikoski as Wallace Brice (1830-1902) and Cindy Brandau as Mrs. C.H. Cain (1877-1916).

After the program, Phyllis Shilling was available for a question and answer session.
