The chairwoman of the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee today said she will introduce legislation to require background checks and licensing of Affordable Care Act navigators in Kansas.

Award-winning author to speak at historical society

Lisa Harkrader, award-winning Tonganoxie author and illustrator will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Tonganoxie Community Historic Site, 201 W. Washington St., Tonganoxie. Harkrader has written 20 books for children, as well as hundreds of shorts stories.

Unused and expired prescription drugs can be dropped off later this month at designated spots throughout Leavenworth County for disposal.
