An attempt to pick up prescription drugs last week in downtown Tonganoxie led to the arrest of two Kansas City area residents.
Tonganoxie police Jeff Brandau said he received word about 5:30 p.m. Friday from The Downtown Drugstore, 516 E. Fourth St., that a customer appeared to have picked up medication with a forged prescription and fake identification.
Brandau said Amy M. Alley, 28, Olathe, was arrested for attempting to obtain a prescription for oxycodone.
Gabriel J. Demaria, 36, Kansas City, Kan., was found in a vehicle outside the drug store. He had an outstanding warrant in Missouri for fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs.
Brandau said drug paraphernalia and methamphetamines were found during a search of the vehicle.
Alley was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital by Leavenworth County Emergency Medical Service for a possible methamphetamine overdose. She was treated and released. Both were taken to Leavenworth County Jail, Brandau said.
Downtown Drugstore employees told police the woman had picked up a prescription earlier last week.
