Reno Bobwhite 4-H, leader to celebrate 50 years with Sunday open house
Reno Bobwhite 4-H Club and Donna Wiley will be celebrating 50 years of 4-H together with an anniversary celebration open house 1-4 p.m. Sunday in the Leavenworth County 4-H Building.
Organizers established the club in February 1963 at Donna and Francis Wiley's home. They were organizational leaders along with the late Frank Hagenbuch. Through the years, organizational leaders serving with Donna Wiley were Richard and Nancy smith, Lynn Paul, judy LeMaster and Janice McCue. Michelle McIntyre and Crystal Miles currently serve in that position. Ralph B. Rector was Leavenworth County 4-H extension agent.
Organizers selected the name because of the numerous coveys of bobwhite quail in the Reno area south of Tonganoxie.
