Basehor-Linwood softball, Tonganoxie baseball to host
Regional softball and baseball locations were recently released by the Kansas State High School Activities Association, and a pair of Kaw Valley League schools will serve as hosts in the first year of Class 4A-I competition.
Basehor-Linwood will host a softball regional May 19 at the Field of Dreams complex. The four-team field is comprised of host school BLHS, Atchison, Tonganoxie and Piper. Meanwhile, Bonner Springs will compete in the De Soto regional May 21 at the 3&2 west complex in Shawnee. Other teams in that field are De Soto, Sumner Academy and Bishop Miege.
Tonganoxie will host a baseball regional May 19 at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds. Like the softball regional, the field contents Atchison, BLHS and Piper. Bonner Springs will join Bishop Miege, De Soto and Sumner in a regional hosted by Miege on May 21, but the location has not yet been determined.
Winners of 4A-I softball and baseball regionals will advance to their respective state tournaments, set for May 29-30 in Salina. State softball will be at Dean Evans Stadium, while baseball will be at Bill Burke Complex.
The McLouth softball and baseball teams will each compete in a five-team 2-1A regional hosted by Leavenworth-Immaculata. The two-day tournaments will begin May 19 and conclude May 21. The fields are comprised of Immaculata, Highland-Doniphan West, Troy and Valley Falls.
This year's 2-1A state softball and baseball tournaments will be May 29-30 at Great Bend Sports Complex.
