— Five Tonganoxie High wrestlers have made their way to the Salina Bicentennial Center, where they'll represent their school at the Class 4A state tournament.

Action will begin at 10 a.m. Friday. The first day's competition will conclude with championship semifinals. The tournament will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday with consolation cross-bracketing. Follow The Mirror on Twitter or like us on Facebook for updates throughout the tournament.

Here is a look at each of the Chieftain qualifiers and how they made it to state.

Clayton Himpel (132 pounds)

Year: Senior

Season record: 31-4

Regional finish: First

Other notable finishes: First at Wamego, First at Tonganoxie, First at Louisburg, Second at Basehor-Linwood, Second at Holton, Second at Baldwin, First at KVL

First state opponent: Austin Hernandez (Goodland)

Notes: Himpel became Tonganoxie's all-time wins leader earlier this month and is 145-23 in his Chieftain career. He is a four-time state qualifier and a two-time medalist. He is the THS leader this season in wins (31), three-point near falls (53), two-point near falls (23), technical falls (13) and total team points (240.5). He enters the state tournament ranked second in his weight class in the 4A poll.

Garrett Martin (138 pounds)

Year: Junior

Season record: 23-15

Regional finish: Second

Other notable finishes: First at Wamego, Second at Tonganoxie, Second at Louisburg

First state opponent: Connor Penka (Mulvane)

Notes: Martin is making his first state appearance in 2014. He earned his first trip by going 3-0 on the first day of regional action last week in Holton. He leads the team with 18 escapes.

Asher Huseman (152 pounds)

Year: Junior

Season record: 30-5

Regional finish: Second

Other notable finishes: First at Wamego, First at Tonganoxie, Second at Louisburg, Third at Basehor-Linwood, Third at Holton, Second at Baldwin, First at KVL

First state opponent: Daniel Dees (Chanute)

Notes: Huseman is a three-time state qualifier and medaled as a freshman in 2012. He only has two losses in Class 4A competition this season — both to Holton's Lucas Lovvorn — and is ranked No. 4 in his weight class. He leads the team in pins (18), takedowns (53) and escapes (35). He is the team's only regular starter not to get pinned this season.

Luke Carey (195 pounds)

Year: Senior

Season record: 24-12

Regional finish: First

Other notable finishes: Second at Wamego, Second at Tonganoxie, First at Baldwin, First at KVL

First state opponent: Henry Hickert (Buhler)

Notes: Carey is making his second state appearance. Entering the month of February, he had never won a varsity tournament. He ended that streak Feb. 1 at the Baldwin Invitational and hasn't lost since. He enters state on an eight-match win streak and is ranked No. 4 in his weight class.

Zeke Kissinger (220 pounds)

Year: Senior

Season record: 20-3

Regional finish: First

Other notable finishes: Second at Wamego, First at Tonganoxie, First at Baldwin, First at KVL

First state opponent: Gage Clark (Chanute)

Notes: Kissinger is a two-time state qualifier. He has missed time this season with various injuries, but hasn't lost since the Louisburg Invitational on Jan. 11. He enters state with seven straight victories, including a 3-0 showing at regionals.
